Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions from our patients about retinal care and treatments.

How long do injection appointments take?

Most injection appointments take between 45 minutes and an hour and 15 minutes, depending on whether an examination is performed.

Will my insurance cover retinal treatments?

Most insurance plans, including Medicare, cover medically necessary retinal treatments. We'll verify your benefits before treatment.

How often will I need injections?

This varies by condition and individual response. Initially, injections may be monthly, but many patients can extend to every 2-3 months as the condition stabilizes.

Are injections painful?

We use a proprietary numbing system that involves a combination numbing drop sequence followed by subconjunctival injection of a solution that not only numbs the eye but decreases infection risk as well as eye redness.

Can I drive after my appointment?

If your pupils are dilated, arrange for someone to drive you home. Your vision may be blurry for several hours after dilation.

What should I do in an emergency?

Keep the call office immediately for severe symptoms such as sudden vision loss. If you have any symptoms that present in both eyes or there is a sudden change in systemic symptoms go to the nearest ER.
