Laser therapy
What is retinal laser treatment?
There are a wide variety of retinal conditions that can benefit from laser treatment. Sometimes the vitreous or jelly in the middle of the eye can create traction on the retina causing a tear, hole or even detachment of the retina. Laser retinopexy can be utilized to treat these areas and prevent vision loss.
Other conditions such as diabetic retinopathy and retinal vein occlusion may benefit from laser photocoagulation which works to decrease the peripheral retina's oxygen demand. This can assist in protecting blood flow to the most important part of the retina, the macula.
Vitreoretinal Surgery
What conditions may require surgery?
We always aim to find non-surgical solutions, there are a wide variety of retinal conditions that can benefit from surgery.
